FAQs

  • Who can drive a buggy?
To drive the buggies you need to be aged 25-70 and hold a UK driving license.
  • How do I drive a buggy?
The buggies are super easy to drive. These instructions are available in the Help session of the app. Once you have selected a buggy and started a hire session on the app, you will be invited to Unlock it. First make sure the Drive Mode (Drive/Neutral/Reverse) button is in the middle (N) position, then click the Unlock button on the app. A Power button will flash on the vehicle dashboard. Press this to start the buggy. The buggies have a foot-operated parking brake instead of a handbrake. This is the small pedal to the left of the main Stop pedal. Press this till you hear it click, then release. Please remember your seatbelt, for you and your passenger. Put the vehicle into D or R and gently press the Go pedal. Drive safely.
  • Where can I take the buggy?
You are free to take the buggy where you want, though it must not be taken on the motorway! You are liable for the driving/parking charges until you return the buggy to its Buggy Park and end your Hire session.
  • What range does a buggy have?
Each buggy has a 5 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of approximately 40 miles. We have put 200W solar panels on some of the vehicles which we expect to add approximately 10 miles of range per day in the spring/summer (less in the winter!). Let’s see.
  • What speed can a buggy reach?
The buggies are purpose-built electric buggies, fully licensed for UK roads. They have a 5kW motor, with a top speed of 23 mph and regenerative braking that means the car slows itself automatically when you come off the accelerator, and puts that energy back into the battery.
  • How do I park a buggy?
The buggies are designed to park perpendicularly in any resident parking space. Please always reverse in to allow safe exit. Once the buggy is correctly positioned, press down the parking brake until it clicks, put the Drive Mode button to N (neutral) and then press the Power (now lit) button on the dashboard to switch the buggy off. If you are parking the vehicle away from its Buggy Park, just leave the buggy where it is. When you return, click the Unlock button on the app, click the flashing Power button on the dashboard, and you’re ready to go. If you are parking back at the Buggy Park, the app will automatically end your Hire session when you press the Power button to switch the buggy off. You will receive a text confirming the details of your hire session. You can find a log of all your journeys in the Account section of the app.
  • Where can I park the buggy?
The buggies can be parked free of charge in any LBHF controlled parking zone. You will be responsible for parking charges (and tickets!) in any other areas.
  • How do I return the buggy?
Your session will automatically end when you've parked the buggy back at the Buggy Park (where you hired it from), put on the parking brake and pressed the Power button on the dashboard.
  • What luggage can I carry?
There are two rear luggage compartments. The lower one is released via a button on the left side of the dashboard, and can carry up to 25kg. The upper toolbox just clips open, and is for lighter items (shopping, clothes bags etc).
  • How much does it cost?
Go to the Pricing section on the app to see your current tariff and other available options. You can switch at any time.
  • Do I need a UK driving license?
Yes, our insurance will only allow holders of a UK driving license aged 25-70 to join the club.
  • Do I need insurance?
No, insurance is fully included when you take the buggy out on hire, so you don't need to take any action.
  • What happens if I crash?
Please notify us immediately. Record and exchange details with any other drivers. If the buggy is not drivable, please get it to a safe/legal location, and we will arrange collection.
